- Marketer optimism is rising … 42% are increasing
spending for the rest of 2009 and 43% are holding steady. Only 15% expect
a decrease in sales for the second half of 2009, compared to 37% this
time last year.
- 66% of marketers are using social media
this year, up from 29% in 2007.
- Interactive marketing spending is on track to double
to $55 billion in 2014 (compared to $24.5 billion in 2009) and will be
21% of total marketing spending.
- Search marketing will own the lion's share of marketing budgets ($31.5
billion) followed by web display ads ($16.9 billion).
- Social media spending ($3.1 billion) is expected to
surpass email spending ($2.1 billion) by 2014.
- Video accounts for a mere $699 million in ad dollars this
year, small potatoes compared to TV ads, but growing at a rate of about
40% per year.
